  • We are pleased to welcome back the delicious Washed Caturra from Sr. Anderson Becerra Castillo for the 2024 season. This microlot was grown using regenerative organic practices at his farm Finca La Miranda and harvested from the 10th to 19th October.

Located in the stunning, rugged terrain of the central mountain range in Tolima, La Miranda is a small 5 hectare family / subsistence coffee farm that produces a modest crop of coffee per year alongside a small crop of corn, beans and cassava.

At 1,660 meters above sea level, La Miranda is in an ideal geographic position to produce top quality coffee, and Sr. Becerra capitalises on this by growing Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforrest Alliance certified coffee as his main income. This lot is 100% Caturra variety, which has been hand picked and washed on site at Sr. Becerra’s micro-mill.

  • We are pleased to welcome this delicious Washed Caturra microlot Sr. Anderson Becerra Castillo, which was harvested at his farm Finca La Miranda in mid-October 2023. Located in the stunning, rugged terrain of the central mountain range in Tolima, in a valley carved by the Siquila River, La Miranda is a small 5 hectare family / subsistence coffee farm that produces only about 200 bags of coffee per year alongside a small crop of corn, beans and cassava. At 1,660 meters above sea level, La Miranda is in an ideal geographic position to produce top quality coffee, and Sr. Becerra capitalises on this by growing Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforrest Alliance certified Caturra, Castillo and Geisha varieties. This lot is a 100% Caturra, which has been hand picked and washed on site at Sr. Becerra’s micro-mill.

Sr. Becerra is a member of a FairTrade and Organic certified cooperative located in the town of Bilbao, Tolima. Being Certified Organic by ECOCERT means that Anderson does not and cannot use any industrial or chemical inputs, fertilizers, or pesticides on his farm. Instead, he uses a combination of compost generated from the pulped coffee cherries, as well as Bio Preparations that are applied to his coffee trees that are intercropped with naturally nitrogen fixing crops such as legumes, beans and yuca.

Sr. Becerra produces compost on-site from green waste as well as animal and household organic waste, and practices stringent picking, sorting and processing practices, with only selecting hand-picking occurring at peak ripeness. After picking, cherry is floated prior to de-pulping at Anderson’s on-site micro mill to remove any under-ripe fruit. Within 24 hours, the cherries are de-pulped to remove the cascara, and then coffee beans fermented for 36 hours in concrete tanks before washing with clean water to remove mucilage.
