    This is the third year we have worked with coffee from producer Renan Amilcar Bajurto and his small 5 hectare farm Entre Robles. The high altitudes at which Entre Robles is situated significantly contributes to the wonderful and consistent quality coffee that many of us came to love last year.

    ‘Entre Robles’ translates to ‘between oaks’ in Portuguese, and refers to the fact that Bajurtos’ plants are shade-grown, growing beneath a canopy of species such as avocado, guava, pine, and oak. The diversity supplied by these neighbouring plants allow the local ecosystem to thrive, encouraging the native bird and animal population, which consequently benefits the coffee through reduced pest-damage and erosion, along with better fertilisation.

    Renan Bajurto is a member of the COCAFELOL co-operative, an organisation that is dedicated to supporting coffee farmers in the Ocotepeque region, assisting with production, marketing, financing, and export of their produce.
