Jonathan Rosero Filter$23 per 250g
Located in north-central Ecuador, Jonathan Rosero’s farm borders Colombia, separated only by a river. Alongside 15 hectares dedicated to coffee production, Jonathan cultivates cacao, quinoa, guava and bananas across a further 25 hectares. Jonathan saw planting coffee as a natural progression from cacao and quinoa, due to their similar drying processes, and now cultivates Caturra, Colombia, Castillo varieties, alongside some small Gesha plants bought from Colombia.
In the region of Carchi, many coffee farmers will grow Colombia and Castillo varieties due to their rust resistance and cup potential. High altitudes (approximately 1800 masl) combined with rich volcanic soils and consistent temperatures have helped to create an environment ripe for superb quality crop production.
