Ethiopia Gora Kone (Natural) Espresso

Upfront florals and a creamy body. Strawberry and rhubarb notes with a sweet honeycomb finish.

  • Info

The Gora Kone washing station can be found in the Arsi region of Sidamo, next to the Nensebo river and the village of Werka. The station provides an income for 700 to 800 coffee smallholders, who handpick their cherries between November and January and deliver to the Gore Kone washing station.

Each smallholder has, on average, just three hectares of farm land on which you will find wanza and acacia trees providing shade for their heirloom coffee trees.

Both washed and natural processes are used to prepare cherries. Natural coffees are dried for 15-18 days on drying beds, situated on steep hillsides that are exposed to high amounts of wind. Washed coffee is fermented for 42-46 hours under water. Every 12 hours, the water is changed for fresh water from the Gerenbicho river, an affluent of the Nensebo river.
