  • Info

The Roba Family washing station, located in Gotiti kebele, is headed by three brothers from the Roba family: Kefyalew, Bekele, and Tesfaye. All three share an academic background in Forestry, Geography, Population, Environment and development, and management. Within the Gedeb Woreda (or Gedeo zone) lies the Gotiti kebele; a 30-hectare area surrounded by the Banko and Raku rivers, where coffee cultivation practices are dominated by indigenous agroforestry. This farming style promotes tree and crop diversity and means that coffee trees are surrounded by false banana, cereal, and fruit trees.

One of the key elements that contributes to the success and quality of Yirgacheffe coffee is the altitude in which they are grown. Coffee in this area can be found growing at heights reaching 2700 masl.
