Costa Rica El Vino Filter



The El Vino Venecia lot comes from the highly renowned Hacienda Sonora, located in the Central Valley of Costa Rica, at the foot of the magnificent Poas Volcano. The coffee is grown on rich volcanic soils and surrounded by a diverse range of exotic species, helping create a complex ecosystem that supports high quality micro-lot production.

In 1991, special interest was given to a select lot of Caturra that demonstrated increased productivity, larger fruit size and increased resistance to fruit drop in the rain. After studies and trials, the Venecia variety was released in 2010 as a late maturing variety with excellent cup quality. Because of the delayed maturation, harvest occurs later, which translates into savings for the farmer as coffee will be harvested in drier days with no heavy rains.

Hacienda Sonora has built a well-known reputation for its commitment to quality micro-lots, processing and fulfilling their goal to leave a positive impact on the environment.

The farm’s micro coffee mill is built in the heart of Hacienda Sonora next to a traditional 150 year-old sugar cane mill that is preserved intact. All of the machines in the mill are tuned to perform in the best and most efficient manner, using 100% renewable energy harvested within the farm.
