Burundi Shembati Espresso

High sweetness, reminiscent of strawberry & cream candy, with orange, chamomile florals and a vanilla finish.

  • Info

The Shembati washing station is located in hills of the Kayanza Province, close to the southern border of Rwanda. Established in 2010 by Salum Ramadhan, Shembati receives coffee from up to 1500 local farmers. Salum operates three other washing stations in Kayanza, and all four reflect his passion for coffee and his commitment to the community where he was born and raised.

Every lot delivered is systematically separated for full traceability, and strictly hand sorted or floated for damaged and unripe cherries. Once depulped, the coffee goes through a three-part fermentation process: 16 hours of dry fermentation, 14 hours of wet fermentation and finally, 10 hours of washing and soaking in fresh water.
